Payment notifications

Parsley Pay sends you email notifications when payments are made or fail, so you're always up to date without having to check the dashboard.

Payment received notification

When a customer completes payment on one of your invoices, you'll receive a confirmation email. It includes:

  • The invoice number and customer name
  • The amount paid and currency
  • The date and time payment was received
  • A link back to the invoice in your dashboard

The invoice is also automatically marked as Paid in your dashboard at the same time.

Payment failure notification

If a customer attempts to pay but the payment fails — for example, due to an insufficient funds error or a declined card — you'll receive a failure notification. It includes:

  • The invoice number and customer name
  • The invoice amount
  • A note that payment was attempted but failed

The invoice remains in its current status (Sent or Viewed). You may want to follow up with your customer to let them know. Stripe will typically show the customer a failure message at checkout and prompt them to retry with a different payment method.

Where notifications are sent

All notifications are sent to the email address registered to your Parsley Pay account. There is currently no option to configure a different notification email address.

Stripe's own notifications

Stripe may also send you separate notifications from your Stripe account, depending on your Stripe notification preferences. These are independent of Parsley Pay emails and are configured in your Stripe dashboard under Settings → Email notifications.
